Visual Effects Association

Design Firm

EQQY GROUP

Brief
The Visual Effects Association of British Columbia (VEABC) is an organization housing all kinds of professionals in the visual effects industry – artists, producers, facility owners, supervisors, and production personnelle. VEABC acts as a voice for its members to be informed about events, careers, and processes for all things visual effects in BC.

Process
The association’s presence was predominantly offline and the website’s use was used only to convey information about membership perks. VEABC, ran by a board of visual effects professionals, sought to provide an online community base for its members to engage in discussions, vfx news around the world, and look for job opportunities in the area. Different membership levels offered special privileges and priority access to event details, new job openings from facilities, and status recognition to specific discussion forums.

Delivery
The VEABC site became an information hub for visual effects activity and an online community driven by member interaction. Members are given a profile page in updating their work credits, uploading a demo reel, connecting with other members, and listing themselves in an availability pool for companies to search and contact. VEABC Members and Admins also play a role in contributing to the content of the VFX wiki, resources page, and discussion forum to answer visitors’ questions to encourage, excite, and bring credibility to the visual effects industry.
