Brief
Luscious Nail Fashion is an online boutique that sells designed nail sets and accessories. In addition to pre-made nail sets, Luscious is capable of printing customized nail designs and was looking for an interactive way of promoting this service to their online customers.

Process
An immediate option was for customers to send an image in for Luscious to product a set. But we believed that a customer needed to see what they’re getting before making a purchase. There were many factors in customizing a product that adds to a customer’s shopping experience, namely receiving a product that’s accurate to the way it was sculpted by its user. We suggested developing a web applet that enables the uploaded image to be manipulated to the customer’s preference. The applet features followed similar interaction rule of thumbs to many familiar image manipulation tools.

The second challenge dealt with the uploaded image associated to the customized design product in the e-commerce system. After committing to their customized design, the uploaded image would be automatically renamed to correspond to the product’s transaction number as indication for the production team.

Delivery
The web applet was designed, tested, and implemented in 3 weeks time before integrating it to the e-commerce site. The web applet has driven significant traffic to Luscious’ site and the custom nail design has been the most popular product/service that attracts customers upon visiting the Luscious website.
